ASCA World Clinic and Short Course World Championships Report
Good numbers at World Clinic (despite in-season timeframe concerns)
Very good meet at Conseco Fieldhouse, outstanding crowd/noise/excitement level indoors (in a large venue)
House of Delegates Meeting (Oct 16) Item For Discussion
If PR Chair position is to continue, recommend parent (non-coach) volunteer
Outgoing PR Chair received poor response/timeliness to requests for information; discouraging - given everyone's push for more PR
Athlete-Of-The-Month website recognition pilot program concluded; strongly recommend continuing that program, highly beneficial
National Athlete Travel Reimbursement Issues
Dennis Dale and Ann Urschel (and others) to begin MSI committee work on reimbursement process, comprehensive review
Preliminary recommendation to the committee might include investigating new "tiered" system
(possibly weighted toward permanent Minnesota residents, higher-level competitions and/or multiple-meet participation)
No impact/changes to upcoming FY05 MSI Budget, as National Athlete Travel will be much reduced this year
ASCA-MN Proof-Of-Time at State Meet (For Host Club)
Consensus that coaches have other time-consuming priorities - and conflict of interest - that precludes checking Proof-Of-Times for host club
Recommend that Ron Murphy be hired (for a nominal fee - recouped from fines) to check host club Proof-Of-Times during State Meets
ASCA-MN 2004-2005 Task Calendar
Approved and finalized with few changes; will be posted on MSI website coach page
ASCA and MSHSL Spring Clinic (2005)
Kim Olson coordinating key personnel/organizers; location/format will be similar to last year; no athlete sessions - due to recent low turnouts
Previous high school coach liaison/coordinator not available this year, new high school coach will be solicited from MSHSL association
Recommend Olympic athlete and/or coach as keynote speaker, several names discussed
MORE PARTICIPATION from the ASCA COACHES will be necessary to continue offering this clinic (2004 was less than 20%)
Workout Exchange
As part of the ASCA Task Calendar, workout exchanges will occur in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Apr, May, and June
Enough copies (of an entire practice) brought for the group; to save time, "questions only" discussion format
Discussion of posting Workout Exchange practices on the MSI website coach page; final recommendation - against posting - for now
Next Workout Exchange in November - Short Course Aerobic
