- 800 Free Relays @ State Championships synopsis from Lloyd Larsen (passed 11/27/07) 1. All teams are now limited to one 800 Free Relay per age group/gender (which is also still subject to the normal “individual event participant” requirement regarding relays). 2. The three traditional age groups will still be offered (13-14, 15-16 and Senior). 3. In addition to the limit of one per team, the relay must also now qualify by a time standard (which will be the sum of four “A” times in the 200 Freestyle for that age group/gender) 4. The Senior qualifying time will be the sum of four 17-18 “A” times. 5. Aggregate times ONLY will be utilized to qualify. The four competitors chosen must possess the sum of four “A” times in the 200 Freestyle. Team relay times do not count for qualification. 6. If a personnel substitution at the meet is necessary, the person(s) utilized aggregate time must still qualify for the time standard. If a substitute of that speed is not available, the relay cannot swim. 7. Qualification is a sum aggregate. Each competitor doesn’t need to possess an “A” time, but the aggregate provable sum time of their four 200 Freestyles must make the standard. 8. All rules regarding seeding, non-conforming times, conforming times, qualification since date/window, etc. will apply to this relay (just like the other events). 9. Time standards for this relay will be updated quadrennially (just like the other events).
